Footpath Work

FOOTPATH WORK

Our Footpath Volunteers play a vital role in helping local landowners and the Lancashire County Council maintain the footpaths we all love to walk. The 49 parishes in the Ribble Valley are normally divided up between 10 Footpath Officers (volunteer members of our group) who keep an eye on the condition of footpaths, stiles and signs.

When a footpath problem is found it can be reported directly to

http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/roads-parking-and-travel/fault-search/ or to a Footpath Officer. (See Reporting a Footpath Problem under Leading a Walk)

We always need members who know parts of the Ribble Valley well to become Footpath Officers who will promptly report faults, effectively answer queries and update us on when faults are rectified. If you walk regularly in an area and would enjoy playing your part in maintaining our paths, please register your interest with either This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or Committee Member This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

We are members of the LCC Local Delivery Scheme and should receive an annual grant towards tools and expenses. We are limited to vegetation clearance and removing overhead branches causing obstructions. If you want to help with this work contact Peter Raywood, committee member.

Ribble Valley footpaths are generally in good order. This is in some part due to our work. Please see GROUP NEWS for some success stories.
